SYNOPSIS
Three of the most unlikely business partners join forces to build Canada’s largest toy company, only to face the threat of collapse at the height of their success. The Great Canadian Toy Story documents the meteoric rise of Spin Master from seedling startup to toy industry powerhouse. Covering twenty years of archival material the film paints an intimate portrait of a company bound together by its three partners; Anton Rabie, the ambitious pace setter; Ronnen Harari, the thoughtful visionary steering an often unwieldy ship and Ben Varadi, the playful “Willy Wonka” of the toy world, always seeking the next big hit.
With unprecedented access, The Great Canadian Toy Story gives an insider’s perspective on this 84 billion dollar toy industry, a world where a company’s fate is sealed by the whims of 1st graders. This film is a rollercoaster ride led by an amusing cast of toy industry characters which makes for a fun story of hard work, luck, talent, perseverance, honesty and friendship.
